THE COMPANY

Comecer is an Italian company based in Castel Bolognese (Ravenna) and established in the mid-1970s. Comecer develops and manufactures high-technology systems for aseptic treatment and containment in the pharmaceutical and nuclear medicine industries, specialising in isolation technology solutions for regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. Since 2019 Comecer is part of ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc., a Canadian company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and a leading provider of industrial automation solutions for manufacturing companies in all production sectors.

Our mission is to design and manufacture high-technology systems in the field of pharma, radiopharma and regenerative medicine, with the aim to continuously increase the accuracy and the safety of technicians, researchers, and patients. In fact, “Safety First” is the philosophy that distinguishes and identifies all Comecer policies and actions. Our vision is to contribute to progress and preserve life through the development of highly innovative technologies and sustainable solutions, according to the latest GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) regulations.

Comecer products are known and used in hospitals, universities, research centres, pharmaceutical companies and large industrial groups.

With three production sites in Castel Bolognese (Italy), DF Siena (Italy) and Joure (Netherlands), and offices in Chicago (USA), Mumbai (India) and Taipei (Taiwan), Comecer markets its products in over 100 countries through a direct sales network and some technological partnerships for the joint development of new products.

Comecer designs and builds systems and equipment for the safe treatment of radioactive substances used in Nuclear Medicine, guaranteeing minimum exposure to the operator, total decontamination and inalterability in any working condition. In particular, Comecer excels in the field of radiochemistry where, on behalf of large industrial groups or research institutes, it manufactures shielding systems for special applications. Radiopharmaceuticals are radioactive substances used to identify a specific part of the body through the emission of radio particles captured by gamma chambers and PET tomographs capable of offering accurate functional morphological images.

In the Nuclear Medicine sector, Comecer’s products are used in the most advanced and prestigious research centres, universities, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies worldwide.

IRIS – Radiopharmaceutical Multidose Injector

IRIS is a radiopharmaceutical injector that performs calibrated injections to patients, starting from a multi-dose solution of FDG or other radiopharmaceuticals.

The IRIS radiopharmaceutical injector is compact and easy to handle thanks to its innovative design and autonomous battery power.

Flexibility

The radioactive product is administered by a sterile/disposable kit; after each injection to the patient, only the end part of the kit must be replaced.
The activity of the entire radiopharmaceutical is measured by an ionization chamber integrated into the fractioning system.
The multi-dose mother vial is directly loaded into the machine with its own shipping container. IRIS is designed for use with most commercially available containers. The shielding of the IRIS is designed to shield a maximum activity of 30 GBq of FDG in a 30 ml vial with a concentration of 1 GBq/ml.

Integration

IRIS can be connected via Wi-Fi to the Hospital network to acquire patient data. After each injection, a report on the individual infusions can be printed.
IRIS is a class IIB, CE marked, medical device.

Ergonomics

Modern technology has made it possible to achieve a very easy-to-handle machine, suited to all movement needs within hospital departments and wards.
The core of IRIS has a solid steel frame and is equipped with a servomotor that assists the operator in handling the device.
The device’s control system keeps track of the complete status of the device, battery level, movement brake, treatment, measurements, sensors and actuators.
When the battery runs low, the system informs the operator promptly. When the battery is fully charged, the system is able to operate for a full working day without the need for recharge.
IRIS’s various outer housing parts are of extremely durable and easy to clean polypropylene.
Its sturdy construction means the device is not damaged during movements.
